Approval of combat readiness for next generation rifle
The next generation compound rifle was known to have been approved to be fit for combat readiness.
The Agency for Defense Development(ADD) disclosed on July 28th that the compound rifle was confirmed suitable for operational application efficiency and military application conformity in its recent operation test evaluation which include development evaluation, effective range, explosion bullet performence test and other 47items.
The next generation compound rifle has two selective barrels of each calib.5.56mm(rifle) and 20mm(air explosion bullet launcher) with a single trigger.
The fire control system makes it possible to accurately shoot the target day and night with target detection by infrared ray detector and automatic guided target through target detecting, distance setting and ballistic calcuration by laser system. In case of 20mm bullet, using spiral round counting fuse and the technology of rifling guided fusing, the shooter can explode bullets in fragments in the air where massive soldiers are in conceal or ambush, thus effective control can be secured.
It was developed with an adaptation of purely domestic technology by a group of national defense industrial companies like Daewoo, IO system, Poongsan, Hanwha and Hansung ILS. No similar weapons are not yet developed elsewhere in the world, and military deployment is likely to be made beginning next year.
